FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Got Questions? We’ve Got Kicks… and Answers! 🥋
Whether you're a curious beginner, a parent of a future black belt, or just want to know what to expect, we’ve gathered the most common questions and answered them here. Let’s break it down—no flying kicks required!
01
Is Taekwondo safe for kids and beginners?
Yes! Taekwondo is structured to ensure safety, especially for kids and beginners. Classes focus on proper technique, controlled movements, and discipline. Students also wear protective gear when sparring.
02
What is the best age to start Taekwondo?
We accept kids as young as 4 years old, but it really depends on the child’s focus and coordination. There’s no “too late” in Taekwondo either—teens and adults can start anytime!
03
What if my child is shy or not athletic?
That’s okay! Taekwondo helps boost confidence and coordination over time. Many shy kids come out of their shells as they gain new skills and achieve goals.
04
What are the costs involved?
Expect to pay for monthly tuition, uniforms (dobok), belt testing fees, and optional gear for sparring. We also offer package deals for family or siblings. Please contact us for pricing.
05
How many times a week should my child train?
We recommend attending 2 classes per week for steady progress. Some students who compete may train more.
06
Do I have to commit to competitions?
No, competitions are totally optional! While some students love competing, others focus on personal growth, fitness, and self-defense.
07
Can Taekwondo help with self-defense?
Absolutely! While it’s a sport, Taekwondo also teaches practical self-defense techniques, including blocks, strikes, and escapes from grabs.
08
Will my child become aggressive from learning Taekwondo?
Not at all! Taekwondo teaches discipline, respect, and self-control, not violence. In fact, many kids develop better focus and emotional regulation because of martial arts.
09
How long does it take to get a black belt?
It typically takes 3-5 years with consistent training, but could also take more than 5 years depending on the levels set by the school and the commitment of the student. However, we always encourage our students that the journey is more important than the belt—because they learn patience, hard work, and resilience that is essential for day to day living.
10
Can parents also join?
Definitely! We have all belt classes to accommodate families within different age groups, and it’s a great way for parents and kids to bond while staying active.
